Special Edition New

Craft: On kawara 1933. Oct. 31, 1978 (today series, "tuesday") was created on the exact date painted on the painting its self. It was created with acrylic on a canvas and newspaper. The painting is simple thats why it called my eye. So I did a lil bit of research and I found that the painting was painted without the use of stencils. which to me is amazing because it looks so perfect and straight. Also I found out that there is a newspaper that goes with each and everyone of his painting to document the date and location of each.

Composition: The arrangements of this piece is very simple it was has black background to contrast with the white wording of the name. I think he wanted the title to be big so that you can see it from far and close. also he wanted the wording to be right in the middle so it can look perfect.

Concept: I believe the overall concept of this piece is that the day he creates the painting is the date that he paints. It seemed to me that he wanted to mix abstract with minimalism because when you first see this painting you ask yourself what is this and how did it get in a museum.
