Special Edition New

Craft: On kawara 1933. Oct. 31, 1978 (today series, "tuesday") was created on the exact date painted on the painting its self. It was created with acrylic on a canvas and newspaper. The painting is simple thats why it called my eye. So I did a lil bit of research and I found that the painting was painted without the use of stencils. which to me is amazing because it looks so perfect and straight. Also I found out that there is a newspaper that goes with each and everyone of his painting to document the date and location of each.

Composition: The arrangements of this piece is very simple it was has black background to contrast with the white wording of the name. I think he wanted the title to be big so that you can see it from far and close. also he wanted the wording to be right in the middle so it can look perfect.

Concept: I believe the overall concept of this piece is that the day he creates the painting is the date that he paints. It seemed to me that he wanted to mix abstract with minimalism because when you first see this painting you ask yourself what is this and how did it get in a museum.

Special Edition Old

Craft: Joesph Mallord William Turner 1775-1851 Fishing boats with hucksters bargaining for fish, 1837/38. This painting was done using oil on a canvas. It seems to me it was a multi-layered piece because when i saw the painting you can see the texture of the painting. The background of the painting was most likely created first and he worked his way towards the front of the painting. This painting to me is unique because i actually felT like I was in the painting because the texture was so strong.

Composition: I felt like he arranged the elements in this photo excellently it seems to me like the boat is falling in a typhoon of water because if you look up at the top of the painting you can see clear blue sky. I believe he left this up to the viewer to decide. The colors that he choose also brings out the contrast between the lights and the darks.

Concept: I believe the concept of this piece is what can happened on a day of fishing gone wrong. I feel like the artist wanted to show that anything can happen, like i stated above it look like the boat is going down.

Week 14

Craft: For my cover I wanted it to look very simple and plain without much complication. So I decided to name it a new hand on life because this was a new experience for me and I can use this throughout life. I also decided to use a hand print because it was simple and meant a lot.

Composition: The reason I arranged the cover the way I did was to keep the simple and plain look throughout my magazine. I accomplished this my not putting to much on the cover and leaving the back a solid color.

Concept: My concept behind my cover was to explain the title of my magazine which is my new experience in computer graphics.

Week 13

Craft: for this spread I wanted to do a comparison between two types of photography. which was action and framed work. I created a four page spread for this one with two pictures on one spread with the text on the next one. i did this so the viewer will be able to compare with a side by side view.

Composition:I choose to take the picture while she was jumping because i thought it would make the picture more like a video because it shows action. I had to snap the photo at a specific time to catch her in her jumping motion. And i choose to take the picture in the bathroom because i wanted to placed the shoe in an environment where the shoe stands out. But I wanted to keep all the bathroom things in the photo as well as if the shoe belonged there.

Concept: My concept was basically to show to types of photography.

Week 12

Craft: for this set of spreads i used like a Mc Donald's theme because those are the color that associates with my illustration. But here is how i put it together, First I started making the redboots with the basic shape of the shoes using the pen tool. Then I picked the color of the shoes by using the eye dropper tool. I used the same color for both shoes. After that I got into details of the yellow parts of the shoe also using the pen tool to draw and eye dropper to color. I then made the background which is a bunch of black shoes. I then used the pen tool to draw the next shoe which was plaid but I didnt know how to make it look plaid so i used a stripe pattern.

Composition: I used the same arrangement for most of all my spreads large picture with boring text and an eye catching title.

Concept: The general idea was to make everyone think of food or mcdonalds as soon as the looked at the photo. So i went into more details to make that known by the M logo instead of the nike logo and the micky’s instead of nike across the front of the shoe.

Week 15

week 11

Craft:For my second set off spreadsI was sitting at my computer deciding what to create next and I had no idea what I was going to make. Until I realized that it was right in from of me. I was in a room full of art work. So I decided to use what was around me which was others art work but use my own style on it. I thought it would be a good idea because many great artists have done this. For example when me and my class went downtown to the art institute in chicago we were looking at varies artists and there work. And we kept coming across these friut bowls. There were tons of them but each artist made theirs look so different from the next persons. So i decided to do it as well and see how it came out.

Composition: I arranged my copy of my class mate photo with mine large on the same page. And i made the text not so interesting so the viewer can see the similarities and differences of both pieces.

Concept: My concept of this spread was to make the same type of picture as my classmate but put my own style on it like we observed in the museum.
